What is a VFD?

A VFD, or variable frequency drive, also known as an AC Drive, is an electronic unit that provides a means to control the speed of a 3-Phase A/C motor.  Some VFDs can take in single-phase (like the power in your home), and convert it to 3-phase to run a 3-phase motor.  Some VFD's can even run on DC battery power.

Available in IP20, IP66/NEMA4X and NEMA 1 Enclosures (NEMA 1 special order). The IP20 is DIN rail mountable for frame sizes A through C. The CFW500 series has built-in softPLC support for custom programming. This can often eliminate the need for an external PLC.
